| Description | UWS is the Lead Contracting Institution for The WEATHER Project (Warning system for Extreme weather events, Awareness Technology for healthcare, Equitable delivery and Resilience) is a transdisciplinary initiative designed to strengthen climate resilience in low resource settings, with a focus on South Africa. The project explores how extreme weather events, such as flooding, drought, and heatwaves, interact with public health risks, including vector borne and waterborne diseases. Its central aim is to co develop community led early warning systems that integrate meteorological data, environmental monitoring, and local knowledge to support timely preparedness and response. The Project collaborators are each of The Universities of Portsmouth, Strathclyde and Kwa Zulu Natal together with Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland). |
