| Description | Médecins du Monde Belgium (MdM-BE) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and member of the international Médecins du Monde network. MdM-BE provides medical assistance to populations in Belgium and around the world. The organisation campaigns for universal health coverage, guaranteeing every individual access to healthcare without financial, cultural or geographical barriers. Since its creation, MdM-BE has acquired expertise in the areas of Health and Rights of Migrants (SDM), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Harm Reduction (HR), Crises and Conflicts (C&C), and One Health (OH). The organisation takes a cross-cutting approach, taking into account mental and psychosocial health as well as gender-based violence. To accomplish its mission, MdM-BE works on three complementary levels: - Providing care, by guaranteeing concrete and effective access to healthcare for those entitled to it; - Change, going beyond immediate aid to promote sustainable societal transformations with long-term impact; - Testifying, by denouncing injustices and calling on local, regional and international authorities, based on facts, data and real-life experiences. |
